Irrigation Essentials is a resource management firm specializing in water management on the land.  We help large property owners implement stewardship behaviors that will protect natural resources and preserve their real estate asset. 

Irrigation Essentials high efficiency irrigation means and methods ensure compliance with local landscape water use ordinances and mandates.

The Mission of Irrigation Essentials is to promote high efficiency irrigation and environmental stewardship.

Vision

The Vision for Irrigation Essentials is to become the preferred independent source for high efficiency turf and landscape irrigation information.  Our goal is to make a technical subject accessible, and demystify the science behind landscape water management.

Ethics and Coverage Policies at Irrigation Essentials

We write articles and columns that hope to inform, and in the process those articles may influence a buying decision.  For product reviews, we are subjective opinion reviewers. Our goal is to promote irrigation efficiency, and environmental stewardship. 

To finance our activities, we do seek advertising revenue.  We insist in our ability to make a negative review – if appropriate—on a product from a company that may advertise on our site, or in newspapers where we have a column.  Also fees for consulting and appearances are sought from water agencies, contractors and Green Industry associations.

We make it very clear to any company whose products we cover, that we are going to call it as we see it.  We do our best to chronicle our experience with the product and filter that through our extensive knowledge and experience.  We are open to feedback, and candid if we are shown to have made an error or have misspoke.

Often we purchase products for testing, sometimes we are loaned products for testing.  Sometimes manufacturers know we are reviewing a product, and sometimes they don’t. Making products available for IE to test is no assurance of a favorable review!  We also are not obliged to review any and all products, although we seek to review a comprehensive range of the products available.

We do not serve as consultants to any companies, or serve on any corporate or advisory boards.  We do not have an ownership stake in any of the companies whose products we review.

We sometimes negotiate the timing of reviews, but never the outcome.  Sometimes we invite other parties to comment on a product we are reviewing.  Our desire is to present the informed opinions of knowledgeable professionals who may have specific experience that is of value to bring forward.  We never prescribe the nature of that comment, and always seek to ensure the third party is not connected to the ownership of, or has any specific stake in that product.

Irrigation Essentials is successful because it allows end users, manufacturers, distributors, and water utilities to all operate in their self-interest and in the process advance the cause of environmental stewardship.
